On the 26th of October 2007, AAPB was invited to be a guest speaker at the Innovation of Business Skills Australia (IBSA) launch of several new qualifications.
AAPB CEO, Sharyn Grant spoke on behalf of the bookkeeping industry in regard to the new Certificate IV in Financial Services Bookkeeping qualification.
Ms Grant stated, "The endorsement of the new Certificate IV in Financial Services Bookkeeping is truly innovative. It is the first recognised bookkeeper qualification specifically for GST in the world, making Australia world leaders in bookkeeping best practice. IBSA’s initiative has achieved a remarkable feat of recognising the importance of bookkeeper’s knowledge and skills required to perform complex tasks."
IBSA’s support through this process has contributed to unanimous agreement on education from all stakeholders including AAT and the Accounting Bodies and focus on the importance of building appropriate infrastructure to support the bookkeeping industry into the future.
Strong industry support for the introduction of this qualification suggests that it will have good take-up and could help ease the pressure on accountants.
