Tax Practitioner Board

AAPB has received numerous enquiries concerning the new Tax Agents Services Act 2009 regime. We have become very concerned with some of the advice people have received.

To avoid confusion with the new Tax Agents Services Act 2009 regime and policies released by the Tax Practitioners Board that support the new regime, AAPB strongly recommends contacting the Tax Practitioner Board directly or visit the website www.tpb.gov.au.

If you are currently working as a contractor bookkeeper and believe you don't have to register as a BAS Agent, please contact the Tax Practitioner Board immediately to verify.

If you have been informed you need a Certificate III in Financial Services to work under the direction of an Accountant, again please contact the Tax Practitioner Board.
