                    Draft Tax Agent Services Bill Released

                    The long awaited legislation was finally released on 7 May 2007 for public consultation. It is important to note that this is not law yet and there may be

                    2008
                    On the 29 May 2008, The Assistant Treasurer and Minister for Competition Policy and Consumer Affairs, Chris Bowen MP, today released for public 
                    comment an exposure draft package that will reform the registration and regulation of entities providing tax agent services for a fee.

Special Announcements

AAPB prepares submission on confidential Draft Tax Agent Services Bill - January 2007

As you will be aware on 9 May 2006 the Government announced that it will provide $57.5 million over four years for the implementation of a new tax agent services measures. The new measures regime will apply to entities that provide BAS related services.

AAPB has prepared and lodged a confidential submission on behalf of its members on the Draft Tax Agent Services Bill.


AAPB attended the confidential consultation on a draft tax agent services Bill - December 2006

Maria Benardis of AAPB attended a confidential meeting with Treasury on 29 November 2006.

The meeting was in relation to the draft tax agent services Bill and related regulations.
