The Certificate IV in Financial Services Bookkeeping is the first recognised bookkeeping qualification for bookkeepers.
In 2002, AAPB commenced an Education Research Project regarding a recognised qualification for bookkeepers. The research identified multiple areas of deficiencies and descrepancies within the units of compencies. The main area of concern was the absence of GST and other taxation laws relating to BAS preparation.
AAPB presented the research evidence to Innovation and Business Skills Australia (IBSA) in 2004 which led to the development of a new nationally recognised qualification specific to the knowledge and skills required of a bookkeeper performing BAS related services. [More Information]
AAPB actively worked with IBSA to develop the new qualification which was finally endorsed in 2007. In recognition for the extensive work provided by AAPB, IBSA invited AAPB to represent the bookkeeping industry to present the endorsed qualification to the education sector.
